Off-Road Scooting & Antiquing

I wanted a little adventure, so my hubster suggested trying a new scooter ride to a nearby town. We had to scoot on the little highway then take an extremely bumpy road that went through the foothills. We survived. I'm a bit worn out. The scenery was still breathtaking and wandering around the antique shops was interesting.

To Be Young & Carefree

It's rare that we do something without putting much thought into it. My hubster and I are those detail oriented friends with the mental checklist and a paper checklist. Yesterday, we woke up after a ridiculously long afternoon nap to find that it was 7 o'clock. We had wanted to squeeze one scooter ride into our busy weekend. Impulsively, we hopped on wearing shorts and thin long sleeves for a short ride. There's nothing like watching the sunset in the country while riding a scooter and having goosebumps on your legs.

Catch Up: Same Road, New Faces

My hubster and I cherish our scooter rides in the back country. We pretty much travel along only two routes. Initially, you may think that that must be pretty boring. With the changing seasons of the vineyards, variety of farm critters, and farm critter babies, there is always lots to see. Even the bumps in the road are ever changing. I can't wait for it to warm up and for more opportunities to hop onto our scoot scoot.

Blissful

We have had a wonderful Sunday so far. Some things that we have enjoyed doing together include buying girl scout cookies, taking our scooter out on the same path that my hubster conquered Friday on his bike, and planting strawberries. The scooter ride was gorgeous. I forget how green it gets around here, especially after the winter rains. I also loved seeing the horses, bison, sheep, goats, and alpacas out. As for the strawberries, it's my first time growing them. We'll see just have to wait and see how it goes. Couldn't ask for a better Sunday!

Pickin Apples Not Noses

With blueberry season done, it's now apple pickin season! We have several apple farms along our favorite scooter route. One farm allows you to pick your own apples. The most adorable little white haired farmer hands you the bags and weighs your apples when you're done picking. He didn't even tease us when we came back with only 3 apples because we only had $2 with us. He just gently smiled. We will definitely be back with my parents. I also hope to try to make my first homemade apple pie, but we'll see. Our September is pretty much booked up.

Procrastination

Procrastination is painful. Now, I have learned why I try my best not to be enticied by it. What did I do instead of my homework?
  • Had a Super Deluxe Sandwich that wasn't as super as usual.
  • Went to 5 pet shops looking for goods for our fishys and shrimpys.
  • Watched my hubster indulge in Arizona Sweet Tea that only cost $1.
  • Aided my hubster in stocking up on Turkey brine for the next 6 years. The brine was only $0.89.
  • Got ready for my week with my kiddos. I'm flying solo (kind of).
  • Made a Chinese Zodiac for me wee ones. I get to see them tomorrow! Yay!
  • Bought a rain stick and rattle drum. Only keeping the rattle drum.
  • Rode on the scooter to church. It was stunningly cold.
  • Went to neighbors' open house. Chatted with sweet old people.
  • Wrote on my blog. :)
It was all worth it. I wouldn't have changed my weekend one bit.

Alota Alpaca

We went for our weekly scooter trip. This time, I wanted to go to see the Alpacas that we skipped seeing last time. We learned that Alpacas are definitely cuter than Llamas. In addition, we learned that when old raggedy alpaca is lying down sideways does not mean it's dead. I learned that my hubster is afraid of Alpacas spitting at him. When I went to go get my pictures, he politely reminded me not to get to close. I told him I knew that and I had learned my lesson last time with the bison.

After we went to visit the Alpacas, we went to this little village nearby and found the most adorable elementary school. I love the schools in the valley; they always look so sweet. The founding of this school dates all the way back to 1882. It's near the Old Stage Coach route. My hubster says it looks like a school in paradise. How could I not be sold on it? I'm so happy we get to go exploring on our scooty.
