Trying Not To Get Swept Away

I feel like it's so easy to get swept away during the day. I'm trying so hard to being spot on that I may be missing out on the smallest moments that I adore. Here are some from this week:

A kiddo brought in a playbill from a play he saw this past weekend.

Another kiddo brought in the world's smallest pumpkin to share. (It is definitely possibly a tiny tomato posing as a pumpkin.)

A kiddo shared Indonesian money that his mom found in the street.

One kiddo who had a hard time in library last week, walked into the library and immediately said, "I promise I'll be better this week." He was.

While in library today, a kiddo said, "Whoa! You must be superwoman! You were just here. Then, I looked for you and you were all the way over there. Now, you're back!"

Happy Fruits & Flowers

Today is our fourth wedding anniversary. It pales in comparison to how long we've really been together. We'll be approaching our 13th together-since-high-school anniversary in January. In the smallest moments, it overwhelms me. How fortunate I have been to have a love so true for so long. He truly sees me for who I am and still loves me anyway. Oh, how humbling. For this reason, I will continue to make the best effort possible to be the wife he truly deserves.

Worth the Drive

Last Friday, my hubster and I made the drive to see Anjelah Johnson. We were a bit nervous because we had heard the promos on the radio. All the jokes were from her hour special on Comedy Central called That's How We Do It, which we've already seen. Lucky for us, Anjelah had all new jokes, which included some singing, throwback to the 90s, being a newlywed, eating pho and traveling to St. Lucia. Even the two opening acts were hilarious. Totally loved the show!

Fourth

When I got my job offer, I was thrilled and a bit unsure about the grade level that I was offered. I was given a position on the fourth grade team. A bit unsure because it was the only grade that I had never taught for more than a day or so. It would be whole new territory for me. All summer, I kept thinking, "Will fourth graders like this? Is it too first grade? Is it too fifth grade?" I thought I would miss my little first grade niblets terribly.

I'm about three weeks into the school year and we're finally set into our permanent routine. What's the verdict? I love it! I feel so blessed to be with these kiddos. My class is amazing. It's such a neat age. They're independent and sweet. Best of both worlds.

I've even had three moms tell me that their kiddos are happier and more responsible with about finishing their work. I wish I could take the credit for them being happier and more responsible, but I really think a lot of is the kiddos' coming of age. I'm so thrilled to see how this year will unfold.

Aspiring Juggler

I don't know how parents maintain being professionals. I'm in the process of trying to become an aspiring juggler. I'm juggling my 28 kiddos, my team, my personal expectations, two committees, my hubster, my hubster's expectations, a one hour and thirty minute round trip commute, exercise and cleaning our house. Honestly, I thought I reached my breaking point yesterday. Then, today came along. Not a perfect day. A very crazy day but somehow I got all the little things done. I'm over the moon excited. As my hubster says, "What you get done is enough. It's all that you can do in one day."

Catch Up: Spontaneous Camping Trip

Our friends posted some cute camping pictures on Facebook on Saturday morning. Before I knew it, we got a camping invitation and we were packing up my hubster's car. It was ridiculously fun. There was tri-tip munching, carrot cake savoring and some glowstik painting. The weather was comfortably warm. We were able to sleep with just a twin comforter. Once we awoke to the roar of the waves, we stumbled out of the tent for a morning walk along the beach. A fabulous impromptu adventure with the most lovely friends. The perfect mini getaway that I was craving!

Yes

I believe a strong woman may be stronger than a man, particularly if she happens to have love in her heart. I guess a loving woman is indestructible. - John Steinbeck

Catch Up: Last Summer Beach Day

This summer has been pretty chilly, so we haven't made it to the beach as often as we wanted to go. On this last summer beach trip, there were lots of seaweed and kelp washed up along the shore. I found my first shark egg sacs ever. I was super excited! It definitely made up for not finding any sea glass. I can't wait for fall. It's actually my favorite beach time. It warms up a little and there are no crowds and very little tourists.

Roma

My friend Mark is in Rome celebrating his birthday. Fantastic, right? I've been sending him my Rome wishlist. For example, I told him that he has to eat gelato once a day for me. In return, he's posting these photos on my wall that are totally me:

Off-Road Scooting & Antiquing

I wanted a little adventure, so my hubster suggested trying a new scooter ride to a nearby town. We had to scoot on the little highway then take an extremely bumpy road that went through the foothills. We survived. I'm a bit worn out. The scenery was still breathtaking and wandering around the antique shops was interesting.
