Costa Rica Here We Come!

My hubster finally booked our trip to Costa Rica! He was really sweet and did all of the research for our trip. We leave Feb 4 and come back Feb 13th. Can't wait until February! Time to bust out the SLR and fit in some more practice before the trip, so I can take some beautiful pictures like these:

Oh Em Gee! 0_0

I've been really into Bakerella since she was noted as one of the Blogs of Note. Her creations always look delicious and often too cute to eat. The pops are over the top cute. These pops take the cake:

Important

Today, the kiddos learned more about the Tainos. They were the native island inhabitants that Columbus met. One of the last Taino clans to resist the Spainards was led by a female tribal leader. Their teacher told them that it was important to note that tidbit of info. Here's what happened with the small group I was working with.

Me: Why would your teacher ask you to write about the female tribal leader? Why is it important?
Kiddo: Because it'll be on the test.
Me: Other than it might be on the test, why is it important?
Kiddo: Because he told us to do it.

Oh kiddos. I feel terrible that they're stressing about tests already. I partly attribute it to the emphasis on standardized tests.

Too Much of a Good Thing

Waiting...

I am patiently waiting for better days. Days when I'll feel like myself. I have been lost in the disappointment and have refused to allow those who care for me to pick me up. I think I'm finally ready for their help. I am ready to see what they see in me. I miss me. (My hubster does too.) I miss genuinely smiling at others. I miss laughing. Me, if you're listening, come back soon!

Zip Lining or Crossing Suspension Bridges?

For my graduation present, my parents offered to pay for a trip to Costa Rica. We're in the middle of trying to research our trip. I was totally into it until we started browsing all-inclusive trips. Most of the packages have a day for zip lining. I'm terribly afraid of heights. I'm not even a fan of rollercoasters. Just looking at photos of zip lining makes my stomach do cartwheels. We finally found a package that didn't have zip lining. "What's the catch?" you may be wondering. I have to walk across suspension bridges. My hubster told me that I should live life. All I can think of is being paralyzed by fear. Yikes! Suspension bridges might just narrowly win.

Last weekend, we watched Coraline. It was a really dark children's movie. I'm usually not that much of a pansy when it comes to dark kid's movies. Some of my favorite movies as a wee one were Beetlejuice and the Addams Family. For some reason, I just thought it was too dark. Maybe, it's my disinterest/dislike for dolls or those darn button eyes that contributed to me not being into the movie. It's worth watching if you're into dark movies, but I don't think I'm going to bother reading the book.

Catch Up: El Nino

Hubster: We really need rain.
My Mom: Yea, I think we're supposed to have El Nino this year.
Me: Really?
My Mom: Yea.
Me: Hmmm...I need to get boots.
Hubster: Of course, that's what my wife thinks of when she hears El Nino. "I need boots." (laughs)

"Fly Guy" starring Simon's Cat

I'm having a wee bit of technical difficulty with adding this video to my blog. For some reason, I keep getting a really wide video setting even I click on the smallest option. Boo on YouTube! I'll just skirt around it. If you click on the image below, it'll take you to one of my favorite cat videos called Simon's Cat "Fly Guy."
