Talking about something totally random.
Hubster: You could make it a wrist ring*.
Me: You mean bracelet?
Both: (laughs for a good minute)
*He's so flipping cute like that.

He Makes Me Laugh
Sexiness wears thin after a while and beauty fades, but to be married to a man who makes you laugh every day, ah, now that's a real treat.
- Joanne Woodward
*She knows what she's talking about. Yes, hubster. I love how you make me laugh.

Aw
Hubster: You're so cute.
Me: Why? (very suspicious)
Hubster: You think some kids are cute that I don't think are cute.
Me: Really?
Hubster: Yes, I look at that kid and would never think that they're cute.
Yes, I often wear my teacher glasses wherever we go. Kids are amazing little creatures.

Mission Life
When we were visiting my best friend, Jove, in San Clemente, we stopped at the mission in San Juan Capistrano. My hubster saw my face light up when I saw the mission. He knows that missions are part of the 4th grade curriculum. He made me take a photo in front of the mission. Then, he said the best thing ever. "I want to take you to all the missions!" How sweet is he?

Happy Birthday to Me!
This past weekend, we celebrated my birthday. It was total college-themed birthday festivities. We had lunch with a prof, roamed around downtown, and ate pizza from our favorite 2-for-1 pizza place. Instead of a birthday cake, I had a half Cowboy Cookie sandwich (snickerdoodle and Heath Bar). Then, we stayed at a mineral springs resort then headed up to Cambria to meet some friends. We went on our 4th Hearst Castle tour. I highly recommend the evening tour. We went to Hearst's library, saw actors, and got to hang out in the kitchen. Our tour guide was hilarious and a joy to listen to. Well deserved relaxation and loads of fun. Hubster, thanks for one of the best birthdays ever!

Birthday Buddies
My hubster and baby Greyson are birthday buddies. How ridiculously cute are they when they're together? Greyson is actually the first baby that my hubster and I are not terrified to hold. We've seen how his older brother and sister toss him about, so we figure he's pretty sturdy. He's also the first baby that has wanted us to hold him. For all those reasons, we think he's pretty fantastic. If you're wondering if we have a major case of baby fever, the answer would be, "Yes!"

Happy Fruits & Flowers
Today is our fourth wedding anniversary. It pales in comparison to how long we've really been together. We'll be approaching our 13th together-since-high-school anniversary in January. In the smallest moments, it overwhelms me. How fortunate I have been to have a love so true for so long. He truly sees me for who I am and still loves me anyway. Oh, how humbling. For this reason, I will continue to make the best effort possible to be the wife he truly deserves.

Small Things
I love that he calls me on his way home from work when I don't carpool with him even if it interrupts my afternoon nap.

Gold Star
(I'm sitting on a picnic blanket in the middle of our garage surrounded by boxes of teacher stuff.)
Hubster: How did you get that gold star?
Me: The one on my shirt?
Hubster: Yea.
Me: I gave it to myself for a job well done.
Hubster: (laughs) You should put that as your Facebook status.
Loving that conversation for so many reasons. A) He's not one bit shocked that I gave myself a gold star. B) He indulges my love of publishing the silliness in my life.

Brave Like Him
My hubster is wonderfully brave. He won't admit it. I'm not even sure if he realizes it. He jumps into each new adventure with such enthusiasm. When he's in the thick of it, anxiety will occasionally creep up behind him. I greatly admire his ability to hop into situations with very little hesitation. When I ask him how he does it, he simply replies, "It needs to get done." Oh, my very practical engineer.
Words often fail me when I try to express my fear to him. As my mind begins to shape my words they are overshadowed by "It needs to get done." When I look at him, I know that his eyes will not make me feel small. Even so, I know he does not truly understand the intensity that my fear surrounds me. In spite of my fear, my pride still has its ever present voice. My pride tells me, "There is no reason that you can't be as brave as he is." With great love and admiration, I would love to be as brave as he is.

Excellence in D.C. Day 3
Our third day was our big day. My hubster was getting his award in the evening. Since he didn't have rehearsal for his awards until 3, we decided to squeeze in a few more sites. We were on the metro with everyone heading to work during rush hour. You could tell we were tourists a mile away because we weren't wearing black or gray. We hopped off and went to the ticket booth for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Because our tour wasn't going to be for an hour and half, we decided to walk to the Jefferson monument. It was a good 2 mile walk (both ways).
At the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, we got to see pallets of uncut bills as they were being processed. We learned the step-by-step of how paper made of linen and cotton becomes legal tender. The tour is a lot like the Jelly Belly Factory tour minus getting fun hats. You walk around, peering through big windows, and watching people. It's so hard to comprehend how much money you're actually watching being made. In one room, there's a sign that says, "Can you imagine how it feels to process your entire life's income in a few minutes?"
Afterward, we headed up to the National Geographic Museum. The main gallery is free. We saw the photos that didn't make the 2011 issues along with some photos by the presidential photographer. My hubster and I both loved the photo of Obama running with Bo down the hallway. The museum is small and uptown but worth it. My hubster also wants me to let you know about the super nice girl who works at the cafe. She makes delicious coffee and muffins!
Before we headed back, we made a stop by the Lincoln monument and the Vietnam memorial to snap a few quick shots. I really liked the walk from the GWU station. It gives you a different perspective of D.C.
Later that evening, it was time for the award ceremony. It was an amazing ceremony. They had it in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. It was so much fun to wander around the exhibits without wee ones running around you. We also got to watch the Legends of Flight Imax 3D movie for free.

Happy Anna Howard Shaw Day!
We had a very foodie Valentine's celebration this weekend. We started our day by dessert shopping. After perusing a few bakeries, we finally settled on a mocha roll and raspberry shortcake delight. Next, wandered around our favorite garden store, waiting for it to officially be lunch time. Then, we had the most delightful Greek lunch. At the end of lunch my hubster said, "I guess we have to go to Greece."

Cool points if you know where the Anna Howard Shaw Day reference comes from.

Over the Moon
He got it! My hubster got the recognition from his HUGE company that he rightfully deserves. We're going to DC next month to attend his second award ceremony. It's like the Oscars of engineering for his company. Am I proud? That would be the understatement of the year. I am over the moon proud of him!
p.s.
He's just faux grumpy in this photo.

A to Z: Mini Post
We ran away to the desert for a mini vacay. It's so funny how easy it is to become familiar with a landscape and a road. Everything is tan in Tucson. The ground. The buildings. The overbearing hills. Cacti take the place of trees. Everything is gritty or poky.
My favorite part of the trip? Losing track of time. I didn't need to be anywhere at any particular time. All I needed to do was be with him--in that moment at that place. What a joy.

FOBtastic!
I'm not big on huge birthday parties. My birthday usually passes by rather quietly. Last year, my hubster and I came up with a brilliant FOB themed birthday party idea. Life overwhelmed us in October, so we celebrated my belated birthday this past weekend. We ate at our favorite Chinese restaurants and gave out red envelopes stuffed with my favorite Asian goodies as party favors. We even encouraged our friends to show up in their best FOB attire.
The best part of the evening was just being with my friends. I adore them. They are all so funny and sweet. I love how we can always pick up right where we left off even though we haven't seen each other in months.

Catch Up: Boba Date
My hubster and I are terrible about setting time aside for official dates or even casual dates. One of my favorite memories over winter break was our boba date. My hubster was craving boba, so he did his yelp research. He found a little coffee shop that also served boba. It was in a quaint downtown area. We parked the car. Walked a few blocks. I had lavender milk tea with boba. He had mango milk tea with boba. No laptops. No books. Just us looking at each other. Joking with each other. Simply wonderful.
