'Tis The Busy Season

Once I've been stuffed with all of those Thanksgiving goodies, I know there's a lot of preparation to be done. Gifts to be made. Gifts to be wrapped. Thank goodness, we shop for most of our Christmas gifts throughout the year. Here are some lovely holiday ideas that I've found courtesy of Martha.

Wannabe Martha

I was raised on Martha Stewart. I thought my dream kitchen and craft room would look just like her open airy sets. I thought everyone measured every ingredient and put them in little matching bowls. I loved her themed shows, especially the holiday ones. Who wouldn't want to make little spiders out of pretzels and chocolate?

As I admired Martha for her cleanliness and creativity, I would bug my mom to try out some of her projects with me, at least the edible ones. My mom was definitely more of a Martha spectator than a Martha imitator. What about me? Once I was able to drive myself to Michaels, I became a Martha imitator and have been one ever since. My strengths include card making and scrapbooking. I found some adorable card ideas at Impress.

This thank you gift was inspired by Bakerella's pie pop post. When I saw the post, I thought, "If her eight year old can do it, I can do it! Sweet." Of course, I had to personalize it. I conveniently had a bee cookie cutter to use to cut out the bite size pie bits. My hubster came up with the idea of using the heart and bee cookie shapes together to make: Love, Bea. How adorable is he?

I'm about to start my last Friday of spring break, which means all of the things I have put off need to be done today. We're also going to my parents' house for this weekend, so I'll be absent from my little spot.

When I was little, I loved watching It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown. I was in complete awe of the colored eggs and a bit envious. I always wanted eggs that looked like the ones Snoopy delivers. As a grown-up, I thought I would have time to master them finally. Unfortunately, my hubster isn't fond of coloring Easter eggs. I understand why he's not a fan. He's the one stuck eating all of the hard-boiled eggs since I don't eat hard-boiled eggs. As a compromise, I decided to make Easter cards the shape of eggs to get my colored egg fix.

Better Late Than Never

Last year, my friend Mark got us Photo*opoly for Christmas. (Gosh. I really hope it was last year and not two years ago.) Very thoughtful gift. Well, I've finally made time to open it and started to sort through pictures to place on the board. There are some examples in the guide to show how to lay it out. Apparently, there should be a theme instead of just a random collection of pictures.

Now, I have to come up with a theme. The theme I started with was vacation and I was going to call our version Vacation*opoly. After I sorted through all of our vacations, I realized that it might seem a bit narcissistic. See, the problem lies with the fact that most of our vacations have been with just the two of us. There are no group pictures. I could mix it up with landscape/monument photos. I don't I'm at a crossroads.

Once I finally pick a theme, then I have to photoshop it to the appropriate size then get them printed. I think when I get over the fact that this isn't an easy project and is more like a multiple-weekend project I'll be golden.
